How Generation Z(eitenwende) views foreign policy
As the world undergoes radical change, Generation Z is largely left out of foreign policy debates. We have therefore teamed up with Polis180 to ask young people about their perspectives.
Young people perceive the ‘Zeitenwende’ as a profound change and often feel disoriented and unable to act. For them, foreign policy is ever-present, yet it often remains abstract and is seen as competing with domestic political challenges. Mistrust in the capability of the state shapes the view of Germany and its security policy. At the same time, Generation Z(eitenwende) shows openness to international cooperation, civic engagement and political participation.
